My journey with Operation Smile began when I was 15 years old. At that age, I didn’t have much motivation or direction in my life until a friend invited me to an afterschool Operation Smile student club meeting.

I didn’t understand then what I was getting into, but the more I showed up and learned about the plight of the children here in my own country of Paraguay who needed help, the more I fell in love with the the work of Operation Smile. Later that year, I was honored to be a student volunteer on my first medical mission in Paraguay -- an experience that would forever impact my career path.

It was painful to watch them hiding, as if they were ashamed. It saddened me to see these kids who have never smiled, who have been shunned from their communities and bullied.

Irish Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists

ISHAA is the body recognised by the Department of Social Protection to represent qualified Hearing Aid Audiologists in the State regarding the Treatment Benefit Scheme. The Society also has the object of establishing and maintaining high standards of practice among Hearing Aid Audiologists by the institution and administration of rules and such regulations for its members as may be deemed appropriate.

National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management

NCHAM serves as the National Resource Center for the implementation and improvement of comprehensive and effective Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) systems. As a multidisciplinary Center, our goal is to ensure that all infants and toddlers with hearing loss are identified as early as possible and provided with timely and appropriate audiological, educational, and medical intervention.

National Hearing Conservation Association

NHCA was formed in 1976 to provide a forum where others of similar persuasion could share information and gain increased insights regarding occupational hearing conservation. Today NHCA is composed of audiologists, physicians, industrial hygienists, safety specialists, engineers, scientists, occupational health nurses and hearing conservationists, equipment manufacturers, students, and others, all of whom are active in hearing conservation.

New Zealand Audiological Society

The New Zealand Audiological Society was incorporated in 1976 is a self governing body representing more than 300+ Audiologists in NewZealand. Vision Statement of the New Zealand Audiological Society “To assist the hearing impaired community of all ages to participate as fully as possible in all aspects of life.”

New Zealand Society of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery

The NZ Society of ORLHNS aims to cultivate and promote all clinical, academic and scientific aspects of ORLHNS and related sciences. Its Members are Doctors who are working in the specialty as Consultants, other Hospital Doctors, Trainees in the Specialty, or Experts in a related science.

The North American Society of Head and Neck Pathology (NASHNP) was founded in 1997 as a non-profit organization to promote, exchange and disseminate information about the anatomy, physiology, pathology and basic science and clinical management of diseases involving the head and neck. The NASHNP is a companion society of the United States and Canada Academy of Pathology (USCAP).

South African Association of Audiologists

The South African Association of Audiologists (SAAA) is an interest group originally formed by South African Audiologists in private practice, but since 2002, SAAA also represents and is supported by South African Audiologists employed in all fraternities. The aim and purpose of SAAA is to develop and promote AUDIOLOGY to the public, medical and educational fraternities and other related healthcare professions.

South African Society of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery

The objectives of the society shall be: a. to promote the practice, and professional and allied interests of otorhinolaryngology. b. to define and establish relationships amongst otorhinolaryngologists, and between them and hospitals, public and private institutions, government authorities, the South African Medical Association, the medical profession generally, and the public. c. To hold or arrange for the holding of as many meetings of all members of the Society as possible. d. To pay out of the funds of the society all grants, costs, charges and expenses considered by the Executive Committee to be preliminary or incidental to the promotion, formation, establishment, registration and advertising of the society.
