Occult Knee Injuries Pearls and Pitfalls
There are a whole slew of very important occult knee injuries – those that have a normal or near normal x-ray – that can cause serious morbidity if you miss them, and for the catchall soft tissue injuries there are some subtleties in diagnosis and management that will make a real difference...

Acromioclavicular and sternoclavicular joint dislocations indicate severe concomitant thoracic and upper extremity injuries in severely injured patients
Preliminary studies show that clavicle fractures (CF) are known as an indicator in the severely injured for overall injury severity that are associated with relevant concomitant injuries in the thorax and upper extremity. In this regard, little data is available for the rarer injuries of the sternoclavicular and acromioclavicular joints (SCJ and ACJ, respectively).
Ask Us Anything About… Bone and Joint Injuries in Children
So, I would say joint injuries are more common in adolescence who are kind of closer to becoming adults and they place more stress on their joints like, for example, playing soccer, basketball, something like that. I would say the most common is probably an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament, the ACL, which is a common, you know, if you watch professional football or professional basketball, you probably heard about that.
Common Joint and Muscle Injuries
Typical joint injuries occur in the knees, ankles, wrists, shoulders and elbows. These joints can swell and suffer from inflammation and redness, making them immobile and limiting their range of motion. Joint injuries often occur as a result of bicycle wrecks, falling in contact sports, and car accidents. They can range from sprains to fractures and dislocations.
