Blood Clots Are More Common (And Deadly) Than You May Think

We know from the World Health Organisation that thrombosis (a blood clot in a blood vessel) are very common and conditions related to them cause one in four deaths worldwide.  Blood Clots Are More Common (And Deadly) Than You May Think

Thrombosis can affect anyone, regardless of their age, gender or ethnicity. Even those who are young and active can be susceptible to blood clots. However, there are steps that you can take to protect your health:

VTE Prophylaxis

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) may contribute to up to 12% of deaths in ICU and is the No.1 preventable cause of hospital death.

This Is Serious

This Is Serious is a national campaign to drive awareness and action around the prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), or blood clots, in women. The campaign was developed by Dr. Thomas Ortel of the Duke Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This campaign is a multi-media program aimed at educating women about DVT and PE and motivating them to take action if they believe they may be at risk.
