Best bug repellent - clove oil!

Just wanted to share a great tip for an herbal mosquito repellent that works fabulously!! Clove oil! You can get concentrated clove oil at almost any health food-type market, and then make sure to dilute it (a lot) with olive oil or some other veggie oil. Clove oil will burn the skin if applied directly... I usually put a blob of olive oil in my hand and then drop in 5 or 6 drops of clove oil (or more--but test it out for yourself with how your skin might react (or not) to it). Then I rub all over my arms, face, neck, etc. It's amazing to watch the ferocious mosquitoes buzz around, get within an inch of me and then fly away! They hate clove oil! Clove oil works. This oil, with the active ingredient eugenol, can protect from mosquito bites for over 90 minutes at a 10% concentration in lotion. Cinnamon oil works. This oil, with the active ingredients cinnamaldehyde and eugenol, can protect from mosquitoes for over 60 minutes at a 10% concentration in lotion. Geraniol and 2-PEP, or 2-phenylethyl propionate, work for about 60 minutes at a 10% concentration in lotion. Citronella oil works, just not so great. We found citronella oil at a 10% concentration only protected from mosquito bites for about 30 minutes.
