Jane Fonda Diagnosed With Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma at 84: ‘I Feel Very Lucky’
So, my dear friends, I have something personal I want to share. I’ve been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and have started chemo treatments. This is a very treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky...
We also need to be talking much more not just about cures but about causes so we can eliminate them. For example, people need to know that fossil fuels cause cancer. So do pesticides, many of which are fossil fuel-based...
One thing it’s shown me already is the importance of community. Of growing and deepening one’s community so that we are not alone. And the cancer, along with my age --almost 85-- definitely teaches the importance of adapting to…

The Cancer Jane Fonda Has Is One of the Most Common
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma accounts for 4 percent of all cancers in the U.S., and age is a major risk factor.
New immune-based approaches stir hope in non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
The introduction of antibody immunotherapy has changed the cancer treatment landscape, and its potential is only starting to be fully tapped. ADCs and bispecific antibodies have built on learnings from antibody science and offer hope to patients and physicians alike. These approaches may offer new treatment options in cancers like diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), the most common type of aggressive NHL. An estimated 40 percent of patients with this type of NHL relapse after initial treatment.
Jane Fonda Says She Has Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
While it’s unclear what kind Ms. Fonda has been diagnosed with, all types of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma are treatable and some patients even go into long remission. “It’s not a death sentence,” said Dr. William Dahut, chief scientific officer of the American Cancer Society.
Weedkiller 'raises risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma by 41%'
A broad new scientific analysis of the cancer-causing potential of glyphosate herbicides, the most widely used weedkilling products in the world, has found that people with high exposures to the popular pesticides have a 41% increased risk of developing a type of cancer called non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Does Monsanto’s Roundup cause cancer? Trial highlights the difficulty of proving a link
If it was simple to determine the cause of cancer in humans, scientists would do the right experiment and we’d know the answer pretty quickly. But it’s not simple.
Is that the good Hodgkin’s or the bad Hodgkin’s?
For those of you who are Curb Your Enthusiasm fans, you will know Hodgkin’s lymphoma as the “good Hodgkin’s”, because of its higher cure rate than non-Hodgkin’s.
My Experience With Lymphoma
Navigating the ups and downs of a life-changing diagnosis.
Living In-between
I have been a follicular lymphoma patient since 2008. One of the strangest things about this disease is the kind of “in-between-ness” that it can put some patients into. You’re not really cured, but you’re not really sick, either. (Terrilyn McCormick writes about this very well.) You learn to live with the uncertainty.
Lymphoma - Andy Whitfield's Biggest Battle
Despite his untimely death in 2012, actor Andy Whitfield is still very present. How? In the form of a upcoming documentary called "Be Here Now" which chronicles his battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma types
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is divided into more than 30 types, classified based on the type of lymphocyte involved: B lymphocytes (B cells) or T lymphocytes (T cells). Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is further classified by other factors, including whether it is aggressive (fast-growing) or indolent (slow-growing).
Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma side effects are a small price to pay for life
I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s diffuse B-cell lymphoma on Aug. 14, 2015, and since then, I have undergone three rounds of chemotherapy, 22 radiation treatments and an autologous stem cell transplant. Today, I show no evidence of disease, but the side effects from my treatment were and still are challenging. I’ve had everything from nausea, neuropathy and hair loss to chemobrain and hearing problems.
Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma; a Bipartisan Affliction
If you have a lymph node or gland that is swollen and does not decrease in size in 1-2 weeks, consult your physician to determine if a biopsy is needed to see if it is a lymphoma (either Hodgkin’s disease or NHL). Since NHL can progress rapidly, earlier diagnosis can allow earlier treatment with less side effects and fewer metastases.
The Andy Whitfield Story, Be Here Now
An inspiring feature documentary and love story, about the overnight sensation, actor and international sex symbol, Andy Whitfield, who put the same determination and dedication that he brought to his lead role in “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” into fighting life-threatening cancer.
The Right Treatment at the Right Time: Double-Hit Lymphoma
He had no evidence of neurological deficit and was able to stand and walk without difficulty. The differential diagnosis of a mass in the lower spine includes metastatic disease from a distant site i.e. lung, etc. versus a primary tumor such as chordoma versus lymphoma. A needle biopsy confirmed B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL).
