Zepbound
I hope as time goes on that changes. I hope the price of the drugs comes down along with the negative stigma around them. For myself personally, this medicine changed my life - Tim Owens

Zepbound and Down
If taking medicine to regulate the hormones in my body is something I have to do for the rest of my life that's a very small price to pay. I think it's unfortunate that these drugs have such a stigma around them right now. Obesity is a tricky disease because so many people believe you should just be able to work your way out of it. It's like telling someone who suffers from depression to just smile more and get out. Fatphobia is very strong around the world and if you're someone who is attempting to lose weight there's always a contingent of folks that want to tell you how you're doing it wrong. I hope as time goes on that changes.

Eli Lilly sues companies selling alternative versions of its weight loss drug
"Anyone continuing to sell mass compounded tirzepatide is breaking the law and deceiving patients," Lilly said in a company statement sent to NPR. "We will continue to take action to stop those who threaten patient safety and urgently call on regulators and law enforcement to do the same." Eli Lilly filed lawsuits against compounding pharmacies earlier this month. Now, it has turned its attention to telehealth companies selling compounded tirzepatide. On Wednesday, Lilly filed complaints against Mochi Health, Willow Health, Fella Health and Delilah, and Henry Meds.
How Long Does It Take for Zepbound (Tirzepatide) to Work?
In one Zepbound clinical trial, patients receiving high doses lost an average of almost 20% of their body weight throughout the trial (about 16.5 months) after 12 weeks of an intense diet and exercise regimen. The trial looked at patients with a BMI of 30 or higher or those with a BMI of 27 or higher and one additional medical condition like diabetes.
If Wegovy and Zepbound Are So Effective, Why Do So Many People Stop Taking Them?
Many individuals never fill their prescriptions due to fears about side effects, misunderstandings about how the medications work, or stigma surrounding obesity treatment. Studies indicate that 91% of patients fail to fill their prescription within 60 days of receiving it.
What is Zepbound? Does this new weight loss drug work better than Wegovy and Ozempic? Will it cut costs?
Drug makers spend considerable time and money creating brand names for drugs. Presumably, the “zep” in Zepbound comes from tirzepatide, the generic name for the drug from which Zepbound is made. Low Wang says that drug makers come up with names that may sound strange to patients because the names need to sound OK in multiple languages, and the drug names can’t conflict with or sound too much like existing brand names for pharmaceuticals. Low Wang concedes that the names often sound strange, and Zepbound may be hard for some people to pronounce. But judging by the popularity of the other weight loss drugs, Zepbound may soon become familiar to millions of people around the world.
What to Know About Zepbound
Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Zepbound all promote weight loss by decreasing appetite. But while semaglutides like Ozempic and Wegovy work on one hormone — glucagon peptide 1, or GLP 1, which comes from the small intestine and regulates blood sugar and appetite — tirzepatide is unique in that it works on both GLP-1 and a second hormone, gastric-inhibitory polypeptide, or GIP, which secretes insulin. “There’s sort of a synergy between these two hormones in the gut,” says Dr. Srinath.
Zepbound reviews: what the data and users say
Prior to market release, Zepbound was put through 4 rounds of clinical trials to prove its safety and effectiveness for weight loss. The first SURMOUNT-1 trial tested whether tirzepatide led to weight loss in obese individuals without type 2 diabetes. Results showed that patients lost 15 to 20.9% of their initial body weight over 72 weeks, dependent on the tirzepatide dosage used.
